Tradition makes kin neighbors in Oklahoma City

Century-old leafy hardwoods shade Kadie and Graham Ramsay’s yard and home at 3145 NW 20, and the original hitching post remains in front, in case a visitor in horse and buggy happens along.

Just as in 1971 when Becky Osmond and her young family moved in across the back fence from her parents’ house, Kadie Ramsey and her daughter, have done the same thing, 38 years later.

Do they sometimes feel a little too close?

"We have an agreement,” Kadie Ramsay said. "Neither of us shows up at the other’s door unless invited.”

"I had the same agreement with my mother,” Becky Osmond chimed in.

Linwood Place, which turned 100 this year, has matured as a community. It has seen the Depression and a few oil boom-bust cycles.
